The Diamanté Bowl is an object exploring the idea of contrast. It draws inspiration from the Diamanté poem where the poem is structured in diamond and examines two contrasting components. Similarly, the form is composed of these opposing elements where the rectilinear grid pattern is juxtaposed by an off-centered bowl form. The process explores positive and negative forms where the positive space in the mold creates the negative space in the finished bowl. The materiality also plays with perception where concrete is perceived to be a cheap heavy utilitarian material. In the finished bowl the concrete becomes light and elegant where the perceived value is heightened.

The Wave Serving Tray, handmade from American Cherry wood and finished with a food-safe mineral oil, the wave form surface displays food in a way that is visually interesting and inviting, drawing guests in. The inspiration for this comes as a contemporary interpretation of traditional Filipino wood-turned tableware. Users are invited to interact with the surface of the tray throughout the meal creating a tactile experience as one caresses the waves to scoop their food from.
